Family Therapy

Family Therapy

  • Do you and your spouse disagree on how to raise your children?
  • Has a divorce or stepparent situation created conflict in your family?
  • Does your child act out or refuse to listen?
  • Are you concerned about teen drinking or substance abuse?
  • Do other relatives who live with you make your life more difficult?
  • Would you like a less stressful home?

What is Family Therapy?

caucasian0028Family therapy is a very efficient and time-effective approach for whatever is challenging in your family right now. It is often faster and more effective than individual therapy because it focuses on relationships rather than the individual.

You can think of it as “relationship therapy” applied to you and your loved ones. Often, all members of the family are asked to meet together in the therapy sessions. Sometimes, it is more effective to work with subgroups of the family separately.

I generally work with the parent(s) first to develop the goals and format for the therapy, and then the rest of the family is integrated into the therapeutic process.
